Le Correcteur -- UD, Smashbox, Algenist, Amazing Cosmetics, YSL, Sephora Collection

I browse beauty products from time to time. I find great joy in finding new great treasures to be added on my collection. As I was browsing, I noticed that there's a lot of new color correctors in the market. And I find it funny - in a satirical way - that the universe seems to know that I badly need one. I'm suffering from breakouts recently and I'm finding it harder and harder to conceal them with my good 'ol BB Cream.

Anyway, here's the list of the shiny new color corrector concealers in the market:

  1. Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid ($28) is a collection of high-tech, color correcting formulas that blur the look of imperfections. Comes in 5 colors - Mint (reduces redness), Yellow (correct dullness), Peach (masks circles/spots), Lavander (balances sallowness) and Pink (brightens dark areas).
  2. Smashbox Color Correcting Stick ($23) is a collection of buildable, creamy skintone-evening sticks to transform the complexion. it comes in 4 colors: Green (reduces redness), Lavander (brightens sallowness/yellowness), and Peach (for light skin) and Orange (for deeper skin) are for illuminating skin to conceal dark circles and hyperpigmentation.
  3. Algenist Reveal Concentrated Color Correcting Drops ($38) is a weightless serum color corrector featuring microalgae and pigments to treat uneven skin.
  4. Amazing Cosmetics AMAZINGCONCEALER Corrector ($29) is a dual-sided color corrector that eliminates the appearance of dark circles, spots, discoloration and uneven skintone. It comes in three variants: Fair/Light (light orange/green), Light/Medium (yellow/orange) and Medium/Deep (red orange/dark orange).
  5. Yves Saint Laurent TOUCHE ECLAT Neutralizers ($38) is a highlighter that targets and neutralizes color imperfections. It comes in three shades: Green, corrects blemishes, conceals redness for an even skintone; Bisque, corrects dark crcles and dark spots, illuminate; and, Violet, corrects yellow dull skin for a healthy glow.
  6. Sephora Collection Bright Future Color Correctors ($14) is a lightweight, gel-serum color corrector with brightening properties. It comes in 7 colors: Green (neutralizes redness), Yellow (combats dullness), Pink (promotes brightness), Peach (promotes brightness and evens skintone for light complexions), Melon (promotes brightness and evens skintone for medium complexions), Lavander/Sallowness (neutralizes sallowness) and Orange/Deep (promotes brightness and evens skintone for deep complexions).

New Scents | Maison Martin Margiela, Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs, Clean, Gucci, Tocca

There was a time that I never bothered with perfume, but now I'm batshit crazy about it! I'm so gaga over designer perfumes. I own a couple of them but I still have a long to-buy list. Anyway, earlier I was browsing at Sephora and I found out that they have a handful of new perfumes. And here are the new perfumes on the rack:
  1. Maison Martin Margiela Lipstick On is a floral, oriental and powdery scent. It combines airy, powdery notes to evoke a familiar but forgotten moment. Notes include Bergamot Oil, Heliotrope Accord, Neroli Oil, Orange Flower Absolute, Iris Concrete, Galbanum Oil, Tonka Bean Absolute, Vanilla Bourbon Extract, Patchouli Oil.
  2. Miu Miu Miu Miu Eau de Parfum is a feminine, youthful and sophisticated. It's an elegant, sensual floral yet soft, fresh scent. Notes include Star Anise, Ginger, Green Lily of the Valley, Blooming Lily of the Valley, Jasmine Petal, Rose, Akigalawood, Sandal Wood, Nirvanolide.
  3. Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh Blush is a carefree and vibrant scent that is warm and radiant with effervescent blend of fruit florals. Notes include Pink Grapefruit, Mandarin, Apple, Freesia, Rose, Lily of the Valley, Apricot Nectar, Cedarwood, Musks.
  4. Clean Reserve Blonde Rose is a sophisticated, classy and feminine scent that is for anyone who loves to be feminine with an edge. Notes include Aldehydic Watery, Rose, Peony, Jasmine, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Musk.
  5. Gucci Guilty Eau is a hot, sensual and provocative scnet that breaks tradition of sparkling, cool eau de toilettes. Notes include Hot Acquatic Notes, Lilac, Wild Strawberry, Musky Notes.
  6. Tocca Beauty Emelia is a bohemian, vivacious and fresh scent for the free-spirited adventuress. Notes include Watery Clementine, Loquat Fruit, Bucchu Leaves, Fig Leaf, Geranium Coeur, Magnolia Tree Leaf, Amaryllis, Kadota Fig, Mate Absolute Paraguay, Bison Grass, Florentine Orris, Praline, Ambrette Seed Absolute, Coconut Water.
Of all that's listed in here, I'm very interested to know the scent of Emelia. I'm very much sold with it's description "Emelia’s zest for life celebrates the spirit of wanderlust", plus it comes with a very pretty bottle that would look fantastic on my growing designer perfume collection.

On a side note, hurrah for Sephora PH

Let's Try These This 2016

I've been meaning to make this post for ages, and it seems that I've spent too much time listing the things that I want to try that I forgot to think of an appropriate title! So yes, let's stick with #let'strythesethis2016. Yep, that's supposed to be a hashtag, but I cringed on how it looked like at on the preview.

I admit, I can be pretty stingy. I'm no longer that kid that buys stuff on impulse, especially those that comes with a hefty price. I have a ton of stuff that I want to purchase, but I ask myself a million times first before I decided to splurge. Though I still had my moments wherein I cave in, but most of the time I'm in control.

Anyway, here are the things that I've been dying to get my hands on:

Maybelline Super BB Cream

I was one of the those who went crazy with BB Creams when the Korean craze took Manila by storm. I was crazy about BB creams! Back in the day, only BB creams from Korea were available and they cost an arm and leg. Anyway, I regained my sanity and somehow lost interest in them. Not totally though for I still own a couple - as in 3, including this one.

Like the Tony Moly 7Days Eyebrow Tattoo, I was incredibly curious about this product. But I do know that I'm signing up for when I bought this BB Cream. I am aware that BB creams cannot deliver an amazing coverage just like foundations so I don't have that much hope about this having SUPER coverage. And what I love most is that this costs way cheaper than the ones I own.

Tom Ford 'Spring 2015' Extreme Mascara

Black Plum / Intense Teal

And I quote Adriana Lima, "I won't cry for you, my mascara's too expensive".

I don't own anything Tom Ford in my stash because it's expensive, and way out of my budget. But I am a great believer in investing my money on something good. And call me crazy, but I think investing on good makeup is worth it. I have a really sensitive skin, so I need to be extra careful on the warpaint that I put on my face.

Anyway, this is the new mascara from Tom Ford. The Spring 2015 Extreme Mascara comes in two extreme colors: Black Plum and Intense Teal. I haven't tried any other color for my mascara apart from black and I'm not sure if I'm going to start with this one. But I sure want to own a Tom Ford in my makeup collection.

Tory Burch Limited Eye Shadow Palettes

I'm still on a beauty binge, as you can see. And it seems like the whole month of February will be dedicated to beauty-related posts, so help me God. No, this site is NOT turning in the works of transitioning into a beauty blog... it just so happens that I'm quite fond of topics related to beauty recently (always have, actually).

I accidentally saw these really lovely palettes on tumblr. With the gorgeous vintage-y design of the palette, who can resist? I mean, can you? Of course, being a curious cat that I am I've decided to check them out.

The Catch Eye Shadow Palette is consist of floral-inspired shades of peachy pinks and soft mauves, and a pop of blue for that feminine polished look. Cat's Meow is more of taupes, deep grays and inky blue-violets perfect for glamorous smoky-eyes. While Pas Du Tout is said to be a universally flattering compact of warm neutrals, bronzes and pinks perfect for the classic natural look.

Everything is gorgeous, but my favorite is Pas Du Tout. I rarely wear eye shadow, and when I do, I prefer the natural look.

Virgin Coconut Oil Hair Mask

I've been wanting to try this VCO hair mask for so long! But because of my laziness to get my ass moving to drop by at the supermarket, the idea has been put off for months (yep, you read that correctly).

I am thankful that my hair is pretty resilient. I don't have much hair problems even though I do routine hair color. I don't do hair mask nor treatments because I'm so lazy - in fact, this is the first time I've done a hair mask in years. My hair is basically wash and wear, and color every two months.

There are no special instructions on how to do this hair mask. All you need is Virgin Coconut Oil, and you're good to go. The amount that you'll be using depends on your hair length and hair volume. If you think 1 table spoon is enough to cover your hair, then use 1 table spoon of VCO. You can never go wrong with this because it's organic, and there's no scare of having an overdose. Leave it for a good 30 - 45 minutes, rinse and voila. I've read from some posts that others leave it overnight.

What I love about this:

  • The smell is divine!
  • The consistency is very aqueous. It's very easy to apply, and there's no need to pre-heat prior using.
  • It's very easy to rinse. I used A LOT! As in my hair is drenched in VCO kind-of-lot! I was actually scarred at first, because I overused Olive Oil before, and it took me days before I was able to remove everything.
  • It's cheap. I think cheaper than Olive Oil? Not sure though.
  • After doing the hair mask, I feel like my hair is softer, shinier and more alive. The ends of my hair feels nice to touch too!

What I don't like:

  • None that I could think of.

I'm not sure if I can routinely do this because I'm really lazy when it comes to my hair.

Have you tried doing DIY hair masks?

NARS NARSissist Palette

Oh yes, this is still a lifestyle blog... I'm just on a beauty post binge. Excussez-moi.

I am so smitten with this new limited edition palette from NARS. It's called the NARS NARSissist. I'm a huge fan of NARS, especially their blushers and bronzers. However, they are quite expensive and they tend to dig a huge hole in my pocket. So to me, makeup palettes are blessings in disguise. Yes they are more expensive, but at least you get to own a little of everything.

This baby costs a whopping $54. Expensive! But you get the chance to enjoy 3 blushers in Roman Holiday (pretty pastel pink), Enrapture (pink terracotta) and Enthralled (toasted rose/shimmer).  Albatross (luminous glow) highlighter blush ; a Laguna bronzing powder and Lstria (pink glace) lip gloss.

Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette

Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette (From L to R): Obscurra, Monochrome, Infinity, Graphite, Exposure, Colod Field, Atmosphere

This new collection from Hourglass is said to be 'an artist inspired eye shadow palette with seamless color transition'. Kudos to their PR team, this is one of the catchiest tag phrases I've ever read this year! I've never owned anything from Hourglass but right now, I'm so tempted to get one of these.

Anyway, there are seven palettes in this collection but Graphite (the one on the right, top row) is being exclusively distributed by Sephora. Just a heads up in case you wanted to get that gorgeousness.

Obscura (Earth Tones) - Cream, Smokey Brown, Rose Gold, Coffee and Cool Bronze.
Monochrome (Rose) - Warm Ivory, Rose Nude, Peony Pink, Light Mauve and Dark Chocolate.
Infinite (Warm Neutrals) - Warm Ivory, Dusty Rose, Bronzed Mauve, Cool Taupe and Dark Cocoa.
Graphite (Smokey) - Warm Ivory, Copper Gold, Deep Brown, Gun Metal and Silver.
Exposure (Plums) - Champagne, Aubergine, Bronze, Black Violet and Lilac.
Color Field (Olive) - Warm Ivory, Champagne gold, Taupe Brown, Golden Olive and Forest Green.
Atmosphere (Cool Neutrals) - Pale Ivory, Pale Pink, Taupe, Espresso and Charcoal.

Everthing is gorgeous! But I think Monochrome is just my favorite. I prefer the nude colors for every day look, and I think it's the 'safest' together with Obscura and Atmosphere.  The others are for glam nights which I rarely have.

Which one is your favorite?

Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection

I am so drooling over this new Bold Metals Collection from Real Techniques. After owning a couple of Real Techniques brushes, I am convinced that they are one of the quality brands that offer good brushes at an affordable price. However, these bling bling babies costs more... so I need to save.

The new collection is made up of 7 brushes:  300 Tapered Brush, 301 Flat Contour100 Arched Powder, 101 Triangle Foundation, 201 Pointed Crease, 200 Oval Shadow and 202 Angled Liner. Like I said above, this new collection is pricier than the usal. But the brand claims that the bristles are softer than ever for the most luxe feel to date.

So what do you think of these babies? Do you think they are worth it?

Urban Decay Naked on the Run

Who in the world doesn't love limited editions? I do! Especially if we're talking about limited edition palettes. I just love the idea that I can have a little of everything nice in a small container. Plus, it comes in handy when going out or traveling.

As I was doing my usual routine in checking out products in Sephora, I saw thet they finally have this gorgeous Urban Decay Naked on the Run Palette. The set contains 6 eye shadow colors namely Dive (metallic rose/gold micro-shimmer), Fix (soft taupe matte), Resist (medium metallic taupe), Dare (medium brown matte) Stun (metallic bronze/light gold micro-shimmer) and an All-over eye shadow in 5050 (cool bisque satin). It has a bronzer and a blush, a full-size Naked Ultra Nourishing Gloss lip gloss in Sesso (rose/pink shimmer), a Perversion Mascara in Blackest Blac and and a 24/7 Glide-On eye pencil. Yep, it's pretty much everything you need.

A Marsala Guide

An earthy wine red that enriches our minds, bodies and souls. That's Pantone's Color of the Year, Marsala. I've been a fan of this color ever since I've known how to paint my own lipstick. Honestly, the description is different from what I perceived of. I usually describe this as the vamp kind of red that makes you feel sexy and powerful at the same time. It's like Mauve but richer in color .

Anyway, to my excitement for the New Year, I came up with this Marsala Guide

The gorgeous Constance Jablonski is gracing the cover of the July 2014 issue of Vogue EspaƱa. Constance is also featured in a super glam beauty editorial styled by Belen Antolin. Photography is by Patrick Demarchelier.
