Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

The thing about using the prescribed acne kit is that it doesn't come with a day moisturizer; I need to ALWAYS be smothered in sunblock because of it's micropeeling properties; and, it can be very drying especially during the cold weather. Having a combination skin which is also quite sensitive is the worst, I think. So I took it upon myself to remedy the problem. I've researched about good drugstore moisturizers and my top two are: St. Ives Elastin Collagen Moisturizer and Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. I was very much torn between the two. But in the end, I've decided to go with Neutrogena.

Ingredients: Water, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Polyacrylamide, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Dimethiconol, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Chlorphenesin, Carbomer, Laureth-7, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance, C12-14 Pareth-12, Sodium Hydroxide, Blue 1
The formulation is oil-free and non-comedogenic. But what really convinced me to buy this product is the term 'gel' attached to it's name, no kidding. If you have oily skin (my combination skin is more on the oily side of the spectrum), it's better to go with gel based products. Lotion types can actually make your face look more oily.

What I love about Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel:
  • I immediately felt that my skin getting hydration on the first application.
  • It solved my 'dry skin' problem on my cheeks. I swear I have patches on my cheeks, they're not visible though... but thank goodness they're gone now!
  • It's easily absorbed.
  • It has a soft scent that I really, really adore. It's like the scent of Zwitsal but toned down. It goes away really fast though.
  • I didn't get any break out, which is a major plus. Props to this being non-comedogenic.

What I don't like about Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel:
  • None that I can think of.

I will definetely repurchase this product when I'm done with the first tub. In fact, I'm thinking of buying the other products from this line, but we'll see. I'm still not confident in parting with my acne kit even though it's been months since I last had a breakout.

Question:
What is your favorite moisturizer?

  1. I had always been curious about trying this moisturizer, but since you gave it a good review, I think I will give it a shot! I love Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, but I have been trying to find a cheaper alternative and Neutrogena's Hydro Boost seems to be the answer!

    1. Now I got curious about Clinique's! I only know a few gel-based moisturizers, and this is hailed by a lot of beauty vloggers on youtube... I'd love to try Clinique's some time but since it's Clinique, I'm pretty sure the price is double or even triple!
